Marked. One down eight to go! Fifty-one days.

I have finished the first book of the house of night series- Marked- by P. C. Cast and Kristen Cast. I have read this book before (multiple times.) I never seem to like books as much the second time I read them. This book was amazing the first time I read it, this time it was still good but it lost its suspense since I knew everything that was going to happen. The good thing about re-reading books is that you pick up on the little things you miss the first time, or hidden meanings in what someone says (there are a lot of those in this book that you understand once you read farther into the series.)

In the house of night world, being bitten doesn’t make you a ‘vampyer.’ being Marked does. Trackers go out and find the teens who are supposed to turn and mark them with an outline of a crescent moon on their forehead. When Zoey gets Marked she leaves a house that doesn’t feel like home, and friends who would just as soon turn their backs on her. In the Tulsa House of Night school she find what she’s always wanted: somewhere she fits in. But it’s not all that easy, from the first day it’s evident that there’s something different about Zoey, and very rarely do different people get to live a normal life, even a normal vampyer life.

I’m going to start the next book as soon as I get off work today (I know blogging at work, I’m terrible!) and I hope to have it done by Wednesday!

thanks for reading :)

House of Night

As I just posted on whentimedoesntfly.wordpress.com I will be reading the House of Night series by P. C. Cast and her daughter Kristen. The series has nine books- so far- and I have read the first eight. My goal is to have read them all by the end of January. I will be doing a review for each book, they will be found on here at random times.  I have a few other reviews written, but I think I will save those for after.

Thanks for reading :)

Eragon- Christopher Paolini

I just finished the last Eragon book Inheritances. If you haven’t read these books yet, you need to. These four books- Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr, and Inheritances are completely amazing. The author is a genius, seriously. These books are so well written and are able to keep the readers attention the whole way through. I don’t have much else to say about them, they really are worth reading.

Clockwork Angel- Cassandra Clare

Let me start off by saying this first part does not make the book any less enjoyable it’s just something that I happened to notice.

At First I was reading this book and thought ‘wow, this is going to be just like The Mortal Instrument series.’ Even the name The Infernal Devices is incredibly similar. The boys Will and Jem seem to be just like Jace and Alec, and I can see the potential for Tessa to turn out like Clary. Just like Clary, Tessa has no idea what she is, and is forced to learn fast. They also both are looking for a lost family member. It also seems likely that Tessa could fall for Will just as Clary did for Jace. There’s may even be a match for Izzy in Jessie.

Those where my thoughts when I started reading this book. Now that I have finished the book some of my opinions have changed slightly. I can still see the traits the characters share but I can also pick put the things that one would do while the other would not. For example; Clary would jump right in to a fight, no matter who told her not to, and Tessa being raised in a time where it wasn’t proper for women to experience ‘blood lust’ is more likely to let a man to do it for her.

As with Cassandra Clare’s other books, this one was enjoyable and held my attention until the very last page, then left me wanting more.

The Iron King by Julie Kagawa

Meghan Chase is ignored. Although maybe it isn’t anyones fault that she is. She has a great best friend but everyone else just seems to forget about her. Except her little brother, who constantly goes to her about the ‘man in the closet’ since ‘grow ups’ can’t see him. Meghan doesn’t believe until her brother is switched with a changeling and she is forced into the world in the closet.

This book is good. If only a store around here would have the second I would have already gotten it. I highly recommend it and can’t wait to see what happens next.

This post probably isn’t the best and I haven’t written for a while which I’m sure contributes to it, but I’m trying to get back into the habit!

Thanks for reading :)

New Books

I ordered a bunch of new books so I should have a new review in the next couple days. This has got to be one of the shortest posts ever, but at the moment I have nothing else to say. I’m still open to book suggestions!

Thanks for reading :)
